Tàijíquán or Tai Chi

Tai chi, or tàijíquán, is a traditional Chinese martial art based on the philosophy of Taoist life. Life is movement, and as in the tai chi symbol, yin and yang coexist and balance one another permanently.

The principles of tai chi practice are the same as those of qi gong. This practice is based on learning a routine (or form) tai-chi, which is a succession of postures that succeed each other in slow movements. Each posture hides a martial art application to train with a partner. Since yin and yang always coexist, each position includes attack and defense aspects.

As an internal martial art, Tai qi focuses on consciousness. Tai qi improves health and longevity. It is a powerful self-defense system. At Essence of Health our teacher is Mr. Henli Röder, who received his teaching from Professor Cheng Man Ching.
